Sikkim, situated in northeastern India, shares borders with the Tibet Autonomous Region of China to the north and northeast, Bhutan to the east, Nepal to the west, and West Bengal to the south. Additionally, it is in close proximity to India’s Siliguri Corridor near Bangladesh. As the least populous and second smallest among the Indian states, Sikkim is a part of the Eastern Himalaya and is renowned for its rich biodiversity, featuring alpine and subtropical climates. Notably, it is home to Kangchenjunga, India’s highest peak and the third-highest on Earth. The capital and largest city of Sikkim is Gangtok. Khangchendzonga National Park covers almost 35% of the state and holds the distinction of being a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
